Ad mech WIP

Welcome to another installment of Aaron's procrastination from study, today I can present some more WIP shots of 3 machine cultists, a knight, and his base.

Firstly, the things that excite every Ad mech modeler, knights. I will be using this as a forge fiend in my current thinking, so another shoulder weapon will be added.

The base model is of course a dreadknight, and it still looks too much like one for me atm. I need to figure out a way to make a curved glacius plate of some kind, or some kind of sarcophagus like the SM dread. As a further tie in to the nids, hes posing in a suitably safari like stance on the body of his last victim. What colour blood do you think tyranids have?

No idea what the physiology of a tyranid creature should look like, so some random balls of putty and entrail like tubes will have to do. Blood effects and burns like its been hit with a large plasma discharge are what I see in my mind for the damage, once I figure out the colour of the blood.

Finally, 3 more machine cultists.

these have been made from the close combat equipped cultists and cadian arms. Alot of chopping and reposing went into getting the arms to sit flush, I used surprisingly little greenstuff on hiding the actual joins. They are suffering from a minor case of "gorilla syndrome" due to the difference in the size of the cadian and their original arms.

That's it for the moment, any suggestions on continuing the knight titan conversion would be appreciated.

Thanks for looking.

  1. The knight is coming on a treat, loving the missile pod set up, looks badass. Only thing bothering me is the arms look a little thin? A few extra plates sold sort that though.

As for the cultists, I'll be honest mate it not sold n the middle one - with the helmet and the arms it looks too much like the regular Cadian plastics, the arms I think you can get away with but the head is very distinctive.

    1. Thanks , I agree mate, I was thinking of some hydraulic s too, some sort of armour plates would definitely bulk up the chicken arms.

I can see where you're coming from with the Cadian helmet too, I had an idea to add a Mohawk and face mask, might be worth the experiment if ill be removing it anyway.

  2. Love the knight conversion, looks very promising! The base idea is similar to what I originally planned for my tyranid hunter contemptor, but never got round to, so I'm looking forward to seeing how it turns out!

    1. Thanks mate, the name change had me thrown there for a second Andrew, but your dp is the same thankfully.

I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on the colour for blood then if you had a similar idea?

  3. You should take a look at Dave Taylor's Mechanicus converted Dreadknight:

Very similar idea, he used a sort of sarcophagus looking approach

    1. Thanks mate, I have seen Daves before, and whilst it is very nice, I don't like the fact there is no head/face, leave the torso without a focal point. I may steal some ideas anyway :)
